I have ruined more garments by entering my studio unawares. Once after a fundraising gala I stepped inside to peek at a table I had started to mosaic. I just couldn’t resist, in heels and a favorite fancy dress I began to manipulate and glue down pieces. Adhesive dripped across the front of my gown and it was ruined. Another time I splattered paint onto a new pair of sandals. Now I have a drawer full of old grungy clothes to wear only in the studio. I get into the zone faster and create better when I’m not concerned about how I look or that I might spill something on myself. I always try to abide by my own dress code.

 My Studio Dress Code

  • The messier & more comfortable the better.  (ex. baggy sweats and sneakers.)
  • Husband’s old shirt, defunct salon smock or an apron that I can wipe my hands on.
  • No bra or makeup, of course!
  • Never brush hair before entering. Pull up into a poof as quick as possible with a scrunchie or back with a headband.
  • Please do brush teeth.
