Recipe for Forgiveness

Peel back fury
from bitter
betrayal,
broken heart.
Hurl and grind waste
into garbage disposal.

Boil remainder
in medium pot.
Rinse residual
regret in colander.
Bury in backyard.

In saucepan simmer
what’s left, add
soy sauce, splash
of cinnamon kiss,
kick of cayenne
pepper, sprinkle
pinch of sugar
over top.

Stir for months
or even years
until sweet
compassion
and goodness
is all that’s left.

Serve and move on
to begin a deeper life.
