Five months ago, when my fourth novel On a Sundown Sea was released, friends and readers asked me: What’s your next novel going to be?
For the past ten years I’ve been writing and promoting my books nonstop. They took over my whole life, and so now I’m ready for a break. Currently, I want to publish a collection of nature poetry, write a nonfiction book based on my blog Crealivity, the art of practicing a creative lifestyle, and return to making mosaics.
I want to say I’ll never write another novel, but I’ve said that before. However, the muse had other plans for me…twice. During one of my recent writing sessions, however Anne McFarland—the main character from my series—jumped on my journal pages again, taking off exactly where The Green Lace Corset left off, taunting me to write the next novel.
But I’m going to resist.
Have you ever resisted your muse?
Or tried to?
