The room in renovated Barracks 16 wasn’t very large–only 540 square feet. But it had lots of natural light and an awesome view of downtown San Diego. As I stood in the center I could feel the chi swirl around my heart chakra. This space should be an art gallery and a place for community meetings and writing.
Then things started to happen fast. My husband said, “Let’s do it. I’ll help and be your partner.” When I told my friends, they didn’t ask, “Are you crazy?” They said, “That makes perfect sense.”
Besides being “called” to do so, these are the rational reasons I decided to open a gallery:
- We had run out of space in our own home to display art.
- Through my work as a creativity consultant, I found that San Diego artists were stifled because of limited places to show their work.
- There are limited venues and only a few small group gathering spaces for artists of all types and for those wishing to learn more about the creative process.
- NTC at Liberty Station is cool, and I wanted to be a part of it.
So here I am now. The lights are on and the walls are hung with colorful pieces. All I need is for you to come and visit.
