After years of drought
I drive through ranch
gate, rejoice to view
pond flowing full.
Manly mallard bobs glossy
emerald pate to impress
beautiful brown mate.
He skims the surface,
leaves a rippling wake.
Above meadow soft clouds
rest in bachelor-button
blue sky. Beside oaks
and boulders, dear deer
graze fresh grass. I tiptoe
toward them. One lifts
her head, poses for me
to take photograph to
memorialize moment.

Beautiful poetry. Needs your name and copyright notice.
Hi Linda, Thank you for reading my poem. On a blog each piece doesn’t need a copyright notice. When you scroll down there’s one at the bottom of every page. Perhaps I should update it though to be more readable.
What a beautiful sight.
Thanks Janice!

Love bachelor-button blue sky! And so much other/more. I can just imagine how green and lovely. Next you’ll have the dear deer eating from your hand.
Judy, LOL!
Awesome indeed. Thank you for the beautiful words of inspiration!

Beautiful scenery Jill – in poem and photos! I love how you honor dear nature, as well as deer, with your steps on “tiptoe”!
