symbolic found objects

You might call it junk but artists call them found objects! Sure I go to the Gem & Bead Mart and use Michael’s coupons, but there is nothing like a good yard sale, thrift shop or offerings from friends to use in my mosaics. These found objects are cost effective treasures, help mother nature by putting less in landfills, create randomness for intuitive work & are full of surprises. They can be free or practically, fun, kitchy vintage, historical & even hysterical too.

Examples of Object Symbolism:
keys – help unlock all kinds of mysteries
watches – hands of time march on
toy vehicles – mean you are really going places
hearts – love (of course)
butterflies – freedom, transformation
pearls – purity

Places to find found objects:
junk drawers
jewelry boxes
your mother’s jewelry box
rummage sales
antique malls
