Before After
I bought the old drawer in a junk shop because the chipped peeling paint and funky silver handle really called to me. It cost a whopping seven dollars! In my studio I cleaned it, splashed another coat of paint along the edges and added lace. Then I started to play around with some found objects. First I grabbed the twin Barbies my friend Kristen had gifted me that her uncle had given her from McDonald Happy Meals. Ceramic poodles from my stash went in next and then toy brushes from my friend Pat. Her daughters are grown up now so she’s been giving me their castoffs as she declutters. I took everything out of the box, adhered vintage-designed wallpaper to the back, added old game tiles for words, glued all the pieces in and voila an assemblage for Pets on Parade a show at Inspirations Gallery. (Thanks Kristen, your uncle, Pat, Lara & Lily. I couldn’t have done it without all of you!)
Art is magic. & so are artists. Oooh, la la, Jill.
