Instead of writing new year’s resolutions, I close my eyes and randomly chose an angel card to guide me throughout the year. Often, the word is spot on with exactly what I need. But sometimes the significance can be elusive and it’s up to me to figure out what it means.
This year I chose light. What an interesting one. There are so many ways it might be interpreted. Here are a few I’ve come up with:
1. Lighten up! Stop taking everything so seriously especially myself.
2. Allow lightning to strike me with creative ideas.
3. Don’t be afraid of the dark. I need it in order to see the starlight.
4. Spend more time in sunlight. Go vitamin D. Plan a Hawaiian vacation?
5. Send positive energy and light into the world throughout the year.
I won’t try to analyze this word anymore. I’ll just pay attention when light shines on me, use my intuition and go with it.
What’s your word for 2020? What does it mean to you?
My word for this year is purpose. This may lead to more questions than answers, at least at first. For example, 1) what is my purpose for this year? 2) what does it mean to live with purpose? 3) how do I keep in tune with living out this purpose? I think that’s enough to ponder for day one.
My word for the year is “explore.” My husband has a dire cancer diagnosis and yet he is nearly four years beyond it. We plan to “explore” what it means to live beyond predictions. We will
Explore both our inner and outer worlds.
Andrea, I’m sorry for your husband’s health diagnosis. What a wonderful idea to explore life together. Good luck!
Barb – Purpose is an excellent word. Good luck living with it this year!
My word is clarity, which seems extremely fitting as we enter “2020.” Great blog post by the way!
Corey, Thanks for reading my blog and posting. I see it in the stars that you’ll lasso in much desired clarity in 2020!
What a wonderful tradition – and I love what you did with the word “Light” – very nice way to start the New Year!
Indy, Happy New Near! I hope you have a great one.
Fun tradition….My word is Focus….My focus is friends and family organization
Pat, I’m so glad to be one of your friends!
My word is Purpose also.
Debra, This is a good choice and such an important concept. Let’s discuss further soon.
My word will be SUBSTANCE. To look for it in all areas of what I do-
Thanks Jill!
Phillie, Substance matters and so does style. And you have plenty of both! I’m so proud of you!
My word or mantra this year is “no expectation” which is building on last year’s mantra/word which was “let it go.” I guess I’m breaking the rules a little in having more than one word but it works for me. Happy New Year and let’s get together soon. xoxox L
Leslie, There are no rules when it comes to words for the year! Remember to breathe!
My word is equanimity. I kept hearing it being used in various ways and had to look it up to understand it! All about calm composure in the midst of tension. In some practices it is the ground for wisdom and freedom and the protector of compassion and love. I hope to be that!
Wow Marti – That’s a deep one but so fits you.
I really like that word. I think I will borrow that from you. Since I am newly retired, I think it fits me well.
Lois, Congratulations on your retirement! You are welcome to borrow any words you like. Good luck! Enjoy!
Love this post, Jill and the word suits you in so many ways. You are a bright light for all of us. Like Leslie, I’m breaking the “word” rules a little and going with three words: “Remember what matters.”
Look forward to sharing another year with you.
And I with you, Judy.
