In the city of San Diego we don’t have varying seasons but in Descanso the weather changes cyclically and with them my creativity.
Spring is when I am most productive. Wild flowers bloom and encourage me to bloom with them. The days grow longer, the light ignites me and allows me to see where I am going.
Summertime I try to rise early and started but later in the day I can get lazy from a deep heat and need a nap. In the late afternoons though, if the day has cooled down I like to work with the sun on my back.
At the beginning of Fall I usually take on a “back to school” attitude. I reset my goals and begin a renewed focus that might last me until the holidays. But by Thanksgiving my creativity is bound to get tangled up like a turkey in strings being basted.
When Winter arrives the cold makes me want to snuggle up and hibernate. It can be a fallow time when I keep my journal close and let my ideas percolate.
In which season are you most inspired to create?
