Fleeting Beauties
Along San Diego
spring sidewalks
joyful jacarandas
burst luscious
lavender blooms.
Before long
they fade wrinkle
fall crushed beneath
feet to elicit
perfume bittersweet
until kind wistful
winds do sweep.

Although fleeting jacarandas are one of my favorite trees. What’s yours?
I’m with you, Jill. Jacarandas are one of my favorites, too. I also love all the varieties of eucalyptus we have around our beautiful city. Thanks for this lovely poem.
Thank you for reading it. We are lucky to have so many beautiful trees.

Rebecca – Beautiful! You’re so lucky to live right down the street from San Diego’s jewel. Let’s visit there together sometime soon.
Hello Jill!
I just got back from Maui last night and enjoyed visiting one of my favorite trees while I was there,
the majestic Banyan tree (aka Ficus benghalensis).
I also adore the Tipuana tipu (aka Tipu tree). They are all over San Diego and I love their large umbrella canopy and delicate yellow flowers.
My favorite San Diego native tree is the Engelmann Oak (aka Quercus engelmannii). The leaves are a spectacular silver green color.
I miss doing fun tree stuff together and hope we connect again someday soon!
Best,
Gina
Gina, You sure know your trees! I really miss doing tree stuff with you too. xoxo
